Commissionaires Ottawa is currently seeking for a dynamic Supervisor, Budgets and Contracts who has management abilities, is an effective communicator and is able to inspire others to contribute to the company mission and vision.

Position Summary

The incumbent acts in a supervisory role as an expert in preparing bid estimates, advising on analytical strategies, and preparing and advising on budget report. They are responsible for accurate budget analysis and feedback and oversee contract database administration, to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all changes and overall integrity of the database. They work with internal stakeholders and senior managers to develop management reporting tools and help streamline existing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The incumbent acts as a backup to the Controller in their absence.

Qualifications

Education & Professional / Technical Knowledge:

  • Holds CPA designation
  • Must have 5 years’ experience working in accounting of mid to large organizations
  • Experience with Enterprise Accounting Software (i.e. Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics) which includes modules for A/R, A/P, and G/L
  • Proven understanding of database management and accounting principles, procedures and processes
  • Enhanced Reliability or the ability to obtain
  • Speak, read & write fluently in English (Fluency in French would be considered an assetSkills & Abilities:
  • Advanced skills using Excel
  • Intermediate understanding of project accounting
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Very strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely
  • Ability to operate in a multi-tasking environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of full cycle accounting (including month end and year end closing)
  • Previous supervisory experience
